Holton teen dies while waiting for double-lung transplant

A lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis, which included getting a second chance at life through a double-lung transplant at age 12, ended Saturday evening as 18-year-old Madison Taliaferro died surrounded by people who loved her. Madison, who was senior class vice president at Holton High School and previously lived in Topeka, died at a St. Louis hospital where she had been admitted Nov. 26 with hopes of receiving a second double-lung transplant.
