The Mississippi Senate has ended its part of the 2015 legislative session, but the House will be back at the Capitol one more day to deal with two bills that are still pending. One would tighten sanctions for schools found to be cheating on tests.

Bryant Unsure about Forming Group to Examine Academic Standards

Gov. Phil Bryant says he doesn't know if he will sign a bill that would create a group to study whether Mississippi should modify or abandon Common Core academic standards. Senate Bill 2161 would create a 15-member group to examine academic standards and make recommendations to the state Board of Education.

Helena Man in Serious Condition After Mississippi Helicopter Crash

A Helena Forest Service employee was seriously injured in a helicopter accident in Mississippi that took the lives of two people on Monday.
